A Dallas-based auction house is opening a gallery on Park Avenue in New York City. Heritage Auction Galleries' expertise includes rare coins, fine art, comics, movie posters and sports memorabilia. Its Manhattan gallery is scheduled to open Wednesday. Heritage says the auctions will be held at an uptown Fifth Avenue location because the Park Avenue space does not have a salesroom.


Van Cliburn Piano Competition Plays On PBS
This isn't "American Idol." It's more like "Global Idols at the Ivories," a glorious mix of virtuosity and great music documenting 29 young pianists in their drive to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The outcome of this 90-minute film, airing Wednesday night on PBS, is hardly a secret, despite its coy title, "A Surprise in Texas."
