5 Quick Things
- The Jumpin' Husker Parents celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary yesterday, so here's a somewhat belated public CONGRATS from their eldest daughter!
- Tomorrow marks the final LSU home football game for the season. While I'm sad that the season is almost over, I am relieved by the fact that I will no longer feel like a prisoner in my apartment on the weekends. Who knows? Maybe I'll start being social on the weekends?
- I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and that the Colorado-Nebraska game is a week from today. Strange to think that I was in Nebraska last year to see the game with fellow Husker fans...and we got rid of Callahan...and went shopping...it was a good time all around.
- So, it's down to the final 2 on Total Drama Island. I'm totally Team Gwen, but I'm okay with Owen winning too. As long as it's not Heather (which it can't be), it's all gravy to me.
- Is it wrong that I just want to go the basement and shred a box of paper today instead of working on my To-Do list?

7 Things About Me
7 things I did before (moving to Louisiana) 1. Studied - as I was a student for 19 of the 24 years prior to moving here
2. Took pictures - both as a student and as a 'professional' (if a potrait artist at KMart/WalMart is professional)
3. Drank Mt Dew - I've been off the Dew for almost 8 years 4. Went to movies - a lot of movies, basically any movie that hit the Brookings or Lincoln theaters 5. Wrote - as a wannabe journalist, I wrote a lot...now not so much...need to work on that 6. Hung out with friends - whether over pizza while either watching Buffy and Angel or stuffing envelopes for thesis preparation, it seemed like there was always something that needed to be done with friends 7. Mocked the south - I totally never expected to move to the south...so I don't feel too bad about this fact
7 things I do now (that I'm in Louisiana) 1. Eat seafood/crawfish/sushi - my diet has expanded to include a lot of things that swim 2. Read - as you seem to already know 3. Cross stitch - see above 4. Work - it seems like I'm at work for a bit more than 40 hours a week 5. Adore the Jumpin Husker Ferrets - even though they can be a little annoying at times 6. Spend too much time on Facebook applications 7. Plan trips home or Florida - seem to be the only places I venture to (this will change in July 2009)
7 things I want to do 1. Move closer to home 2. Learn to knit 3. Organize my apartment 4. Write for publication 5. Visit my relatives in Norway 6. Be front row at a NIN concert 7. Paint (wall or portrait, either one would be good)
7 things that attract me to the opposite sex 1. Honesty 2. Intelligence 3. Humor 4. Integrity 5. Independence 6. Smile 7. Kindness
7 Favorite Foods 1. Lefse 2. Steak & baked potato 3. Sushi - esp crunchy rolls and acadiana rolls 4. Homemade chicken noodle soup 5. Oatmeal raisin cookies 6. Bagels with cream cheese 7. Freshly baked bread
7 things I Say Most Often 1. Well, I suppose... 2. Yeah 3. For reals? 4. Union run? 5. Morning 6. Huh? 7. Really?
5 Quick Things
- My crush on Robert Downey Jr has been rekindled due to Iron Man. Must get Tropic Thunder tomorrow. And some leg warmers.
- Happiness is a Route 44 Cherry Limeade from Sonic. Seriously.
- Sometimes I don't like feeling like a woman.
- Am I the only disappointed by the alleged cancelation of My Christian Slater Show...or whatever it is really called?
- I need to figure out my holiday shopping list. And soon. Not sure how it's almost Thanksgiving...and when I became old...but at least the weather is nice.

Tuesday Five
- Have I ever told you how much I love Kevin Smith movies? Well, I do. And I truly liked his latest Zach & Miri... Which I enjoyed yesterday late afternoon/early evening in the local movie theater (#3 movie in a theater for the year).
- I do believe that there is no bottom to the piles of paper/files on my desk. It's a bottom-less pit. Much like my soul.
- Hooray for care packages from home! Mom struck again with a box of books and other randomness.
- The weather gods are against me. Reason #10008: 80% chance of rain/thunderstorms tomorrow, aka the 'only' day I have to stay late on campus this week.
- I have a desire to redecorate my apartment. Hmmm...maybe I need to hit up a Veteran's Day sale later today.

5 Quick Things
- I
my new vacuum. However, it to see how much my former vacuum did not pick up. It was quite gross cleaning out the collection tank yesterday. (I won't tell you how many times I cleaned it out either.)
- Woot for the Huskers! 6 wins never felt so good.
- I have to concur with my fellow Total Drama Island maniac...last week's elimination kinda sucked. (like my new vacuum)
- Productivity is something that I really should look into for this afternoon...or something.
- For my SD friends and family, I will be back in the lovely state December 25 - January 3. So, if you'd like to hang out, just send me an IM/e-mail/text/phone call/carrier pigeon.

5 Quick Things
- I am extremely happy that the elections are over and that the Supreme Court/Congress/Magic 8 Ball does not need to make the decision. Now if I could just get my friends on facebook to stop complaining about the results and/or how others are handling the results, life would be great. (Honestly...there's a lot of hate going on in the world of facebook status.)
- So, I liked the show The Ex-List. And, per usual, the show has already been axed. I think I've discovered my superpower. The ability to get a show canceled in 3 seasons or less. Oh well...I still have other shows that I like, but will not mention...I really don't want to tease the television gods.
- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. (i.e., My S'mores collection has been increased by 2 figurines.)
- Cross-Stitch Project #5 for 2008 was completed last week. And I've gotten a good head start on Project #6.
- Looks like MoSus and I, along with one or two others, may be making a roadtrip throughout Wisconsin next July. Stay tuned here for more details.

Halloween Happiness
To shake things up a bit, here are 31 things that scare me...since it's Halloween and all.
- Fox News - I just have not been able to find the fair and/or balanced that it promised.
- Squirrels - they will someday infect us all with mutated rabies (as in Quarantine) or will bring down society by chewing through all electronic wires and fiber optic cables.
- Clown faces on small children. Just plain wrong.
- Sarah Palin. Not due to her political affiliation, it's more due to her being a possible doppleganger.
- Jorts.
- Nickelback. I'm counting the days until they replace Quiet Riot on the county fair circuit.
- 3 of the 5 original Desparate Housewives. I'll let you guess which ones.
- Kidz Bop covers of popular music.
- America's Funniest Home Videos never going off the air.
- People who are excited about the Saw franchise. Honestly, just don't get it.
- Carnies.
- Working as a Wal-Mart greeter someday due to the fact that thanks to the current economy I'll never be able to retire. Or take a real vacation.
- Tomatoes.
- White mocha syrup shortages.
- Dentists.
- Heights.
- People who watch Dr 90210 for the educational moments.
- A world without the original Girls Next Door on Hef's arm.
- Monkeys flinging poo at me.
- People who don't know what the M in MTV used to stand for.
- Power outages after hurricanes or durring blizzards.
- The really old bus driver that yells at me in Cajun for apparently no reason other than I'm there.
- Childbirth.
- Telemarketers.
- Constitutional amendments that may get passed in SD and CA on Tuesday.
- Black licorice.
- Martha Stewart joining powers with Oprah.
- Dresses.
- Yo Gabba Gabba.
- Being alone.
- Drag queens that look feminine than me.
Have a great Halloween! And a happy birthday to my cousin Matt!
Monday's Basic 5
- Although it wasn't a very pretty win, the Huskers managed to pull out a 2nd Big 12 win on Saturday. I still have my fingers crossed that we'll make it to a bowl game this season.
- Speaking of happy things that happened this past Saturday, my sister turned the big 2-8 on Saturday!
And she even managed to stay 'healthy' for it this year.
- So besides watching the crawl on ESPN, what did I manage to do this past weekend: Nothing really. Just the basic cleaning stuff. Oh, and enjoying the gorgeous weather by turning off my a/c. (Hopefully...for the remainder of 2008.)
- I think that my crush for Christian Slater has been renewed. I enjoyed catching up on his new show. Oh, what was once old is new again.
- Did I mention that the weather is awesome? And that it's distracting me from being productive...and stuff.

5 Quick Things
- <Patting self on back> I actually got my sister's birthday present in the mail 4 full days before her birthday. Now, it's just up to the USPS to get it to her sometime around the actual date.
- It seems to be a stressful week for almost everyone I know. And I don't think it has anything to do with the LSU-UGA game on Saturday. Weird.
- <Fingers crossed> I have to stay late on campus tonight. But I truly hope that I'll make it home in time for Total Drama Island. I have a feeling it may be either Duncan or Owen that goes without marshmallows tonight.
- Is it odd that I'm more excited about a new Kevin Smith movie being released than Halloween?
- I really should dust my office today. Really. I should.

And all of the sudden I have a life
Yup.
Somehow over the past 3 weeks, I've become somewhat social again. Not too, too social, but aheckofalotmore social than I've been awhile.
Here are some examples of my social nature re-emerging from its slumber:
- Went to a movie (Quarantine) last weekend.
- Booed at the (Baton Rouge) Zoo with the Rogges this past Saturday. (Pictures are up on facebook, for those of you who have access.)
- Went out for cheap calzones with coworkers after work last Wednesday.
- Shopped...a lot. Tis the season for me to try and help the economy afterall.
I know that this seems to be rather simple social interactions, but for me, this is a good thing. I'm not sure why I've been hiding out in the cave that I call my apartment for the past howevermany months, so these simple social interactions are a good thing. Hopefully, this means that I have overcome my hermiting...for now.
Well, on that note...I really should be getting back to work.
13 Things I Should Be Doing Rather Than Trick or Treating on Facebook
Yup. The (fluff)friends application on facebook has added another contest. This time it's trick or treating. And once again I'm hooked.
Darn you, (fluff)friends!
13 Things I Should Be Doing Rather Than Trick or Treating on Facebook
- Cleaning my office.
- Eating lunch.
- Creating a newsletter or two for work-based things.
- Figuring out whether I'm traveling home for the holidays.
- Reading Persepolis.
- Calling my bank to change my mailing address.
- Buying a birthday present or two for family and friends with upcoming celebrations of the day they were hatched.
- Filing.
- Shredding. I have at least 4 boxes of papers that need to be made into confetti.
- E-mailing friends and family.
- Scheduling an appointment to get my hairs cut.
- Buying my boss something since Hallmark has decided today is "Boss' Day" and all.
- Updating my resume.
(By the way, I've already found over 20 treats during my escapades in (fluff)friend land today.)
5 Quick Things
- The theme for this past weekend was Dexter: I held a mini-marathon of Dexter Season 2 in my apartment. I went to Quarantine, a movie starring the actress who plays Dexter's sister on the show (and is apparently his off-screen 'friend'.) And I picked up the third Dexter book at Barnes & Noble (I
10% off coupons!).
- I really need to get to Target sometime soon. I need to spend money on myself and others...as the end of October brings about a lot of birthdays in my world.
- I'm having a difficult time finding motivation to get more Post-Its for my office. And I
Post-Its.
- My soul feels a lot better after watching the Huskers play on Saturday. It was an awesome game, even though we didn't win.
- Campus seems to be oddly quiet today for a Monday after a really, really bad football loss. (I'm trying to be nice, honesty I am.)

5 Quick Things
- Happy Not-Quite Fall Break! Due to Gustav, LSU's Fall Break was canceled. And apparently I really, really enjoy being at work when the students are on break. Cuz it's been a very long week...and I'm blaming the fact that it was a five-day school week...not the fact that it's just a 'normal' work load for this time of year. Nope, not at all.
- This is a great website started by a high school friend of mine in honor of her sister who passed away last year. Please visit it. It's a good thing.
- While on the blogs that I am currently obsessed with train, join me in my
of Total Drama Island by visiting this lovely site. Yes, I am aware that most 31-year-olds do not cling to their cartoon youth in the way that I do...but that's what makes me adorable, right?
- Three-fourths of the newly hired staff at the campus Starbucks already knows my typical morning order, along with my afternoon order. This is either really sad or really cool, I am not sure which I'd rather it be?
- The weather has been delightful for almost a week. I really should try and do something out-of-doors this weekend...other than getting the Sunday paper and taking the garbage outside. Wow. I am lame. But that seems to be a good thing. At least I've convinced myself that it is. Yup. I am a ramblin' fool today. This is what happens when I have an hour without something on my schedule or To Do list.
Have a great weekend!
5 Quick Things
- Last week was crazy busy. This week notsomuch. Yet, I'm still having a difficult time getting motivated to work on my to-do list.
- Cross-Stitch Project #5 for 2008 was completed this weekend. Got a good start on Project #6.
- While cross-stitching, I finished watching Season 3 of Weeds. Next up: Season 2 of Dexter.
- I am still not talking about Saturday's game.
- Autumn has sprung in Louisina. It's been gorgeous for more than a week. <Sigh> It would be nice to be outside today.

5 Quick Things
- I
How I Met Your Mother. The fact that a person would fake liking Star Wars in order to make a potential mate happy is priceless.
- The Louisiana weather has once again returned to warmer than South Dakota. <sigh> Last week was so nice. Maybe we'll have another week like that again this year.
