Gladinet software creates a virtual drive on your Windows desktop. From this virtual drive, you can access your online storages as if they were local folders. You can also access folders from multiple PCs.

Gladinet Cloud Desktop integrates Microsoft SkyDrive, Amazon Simple Storage Service(S3) and other online storages. You can use these online storages as local folders. In the future, more online storages will be available.

You can access your favorite web applications from the Start Menu, from the Sys Tray, from the Windows explorer or from the right click context menu. PicasaWebAlmubs can be opened just like it was on a LAN computer. You can then edit the contents in Photoshop and upload them again in hardly any time. In the same way you can access your Google Docs and edit it in Word.

However when I try to setup Windows Skydrive it gives an error that the credentials could not be verified. May be a bug….

In our school and many internet cafe’s you will find that once the computer is restarted any changes that were made to the settings will be reset when the computer is restarted. This is very useful if you share a computer with other people and dont want them to change your settings. I have been using this kind of programs to keep my computers running smoothly instead of fixing all the trouble caused by different users. Finally found that Windows offers their own free solution to this.

Windows SteadyState is a free download for genuine users that allows us to restrict access to control panel and reset all changes in settings once a computer has been restarted. Windows Disk Protection keeps everything on the Windows disk partition from being permanently changed by users. This means every change made during a user session can easily be undone and the computer returned to its original state.

Windows Disk Protection clears all changes to the operating system partition whenever you restart the computer. When disk protection is turned on, it creates a cache file to retain all the modifications to the operating system or program directories. Histories, saved files, and logs are all stored in the cache file which is created on the system partition. At intervals you designate, Windows SteadyState deletes the contents of the cache and restores the system to the state in which disk protection was first turned on.

There are other options available to do this. I have been using Returnil (freeware) for a long time. You can also check out other software like Sandboxie.

Yesterday, I got an email from Flickr that you can get 30 free photo prints by using the Coupon “FREEPRINTS”. This is valid for only 10X15 size images and you need to pay for postage and handling. Tried searching for other similar apps and ended up finding Pixlr.

The first time I opened the Pixlr I was wondering if the window was photoshop or firefor. Pixlr is an online image editing app that looks very similar to photoshop. This made me feel right at home as I started trying out some basic editing on an image.

Pixlr is a flash app so you need to have Adobe Flash installed first. The editing features are pretty basic but it does a good job if you just need to edit an image for posting on your blog or a website.

Google Reader has introduced an offline mode so that you can read your RSS feeds even if you do not have an internet connection. This was one of the features I missed the most in Google reader and they have finally introduced this feature using Google Gears.

How to read Google reader in offline mode

1. Install Google Gears from http://gears.google.com/
2. Restart your browser
3. Click the green arrow next to your settings link on the right corner of the page
4. Click I trust this site and click Allow
5. Google Gears should begin downloading the feeds.
6. Once it has completed the green arrow will be replaced by a blue arrow.
7. Now you can disconnect the internet and read Google reader offline

While in offline mode you cannot add new feeds and some images and videos will not be available.

To re-enable online mode just click the blue arrow.

My laptop is always on 24/7 downloading content or uploading videos. Early flights mean I cannot oversleep. Though my phone has an alarm, it always fails to wake me up. Found this simple site that allows you to set an alarm.

Kukuklok is a website that offers a free online alarm clock ! Not exactly ground breaking, I know but I like it cause my laptop is way louder than a mobile phone.

The site is very simple, set a time, choose a tone for the alarm and set the alarm. Once the alarm has been started, it does not require an internet connection.

To turn off the alarm I have to wake up and open the laptop, so it hasnt failed me yet. Overall a simple app but deserved a mention cause I like it !!

Some of the old readers would know that I am currently studying to become a pilot in the Philippines. This has kept me pretty busy & I find myself struggling to get time for myself.

Well all the hard work seems to have finally paid off ! On Nov 1, 2008 I finally got my first solo flight. I was pretty nervous going up alone but once I started the engine, everything seemed so easy. This flight was also the first time the school had released a student for solo (I am in the school’s first batch).

Even though its a tech blog, it still my personal blog as well. So, here are some pictures and a video.

November 13 is the current release date announced by Blizzard for Wrath of the Lick King, the upcoming upgrade to World Of Warcraft.

While its pretty easy for most people to get their hands on it by Nov, buying it in India is a completely different story. The last time The Burning Crusade came out, all my friends in India were running around looking for a way to buy it. With most players being students, buying it with credit cards is not an option.
