Yes, the newest version of PageGate (v5) is 32 Bit Vista Compatible. If you are installing on Vista you should use these special PageGate Vista Installation instructions. Additionally if you are IIS7 you will want to follow these steps.

PageGate software is licensed per cell phone, pager, wireless device or email address that text messages are being sent to. Order at least one of PageGate's Interfaces, which are priced separately. Pricing is available at http://www.notepage.net/pricing.htm

The first thing you need to do is make sure you have at least Service Pack 1 for Windows 2003 Server installed. After you have SP1, do the following:
1) In the IIS Manager, choose the Web Server Extensions section and set the "Allow All Unknown CGI Extensions" option to "Allow."
Change 2:
1) Go into the IIS Manager
2) Open your server object
3) Open 'Application Pools'
4) Right-click on 'DefaultAppPool'
5) Choose 'Properties'
6) Select the 'Identity' tab
7) Select the 'Configurable' option (default credentials should already be there)
8) Apply your changes
After you do that, it should work. If it doesn't, try the following:

NOTE: If your instance of Server 2003 created an AdminScripts directory instead of a Scripts directory under InetPub, please do this first:
a) Go into the IIS Manager.
b) Expand your Server.
c) Expand the WebSites section.
d) Right click on DefaultWebSite
e) Move your mouse over new and click on Virtual Directory
f) Click on Next.
g) In the Alias section, type the word: Scripts
h) Click on Next.
i) In the Path section, click on Browse.
j) Browse to your InetPub directory and click on Make New Directory.
h) Name the directory Scripts.
i) Select the scripts directory and click on ok.
j) When giving the directory permissions, you need to give it Read, Write, Run Scripts, and Execute.
k) After you've created the new Virtual Directory, you will need to change your CGI Data Path in PageGate to c:inetpubscripts

Change 3:
1) Go into the IIS Manager.
2) Go to your server in the list.
3) Right click on the folder you've got the webgate.exe file located in (generally scripts).
4) Left click on properties.
5) Click on the tab that says Virtual Directory.
6) Click on the configuration button.
7) Click on the Application Extentions section.
8) In the Application Extentions, click on Add.
9) Browse out to the webgate.exe file and select it.
10) In the extention area, type in: .exe
11) Leave the rest of the options as they are and click on OK.
12) You'll need to restart the IIS Service after you do this.

How do I configure PageGate to use a direct serial connection to my messaging terminal?
1) Attach the Paging Terminal to the computer running PageGate with a serial cable, make sure to keep a note of which serial port you plug the cable in to.
2) Once attached, open the PageGate Admin program and go to Connectors -> Dialer 1 -> Settings.
3) Go to Connectors - Dialer1 - Settings.
4) In the settings of Dialer1, type the following in the Init string and click on Apply: direct
5) Leave the Dialing Prefix Blank, leave the Dedicated Carrier set to None, and make sure that the Serial Port is set to whichever serial port you plugged the cable into.
6) Put a checkmark in Direct Connect and click on Apply.
7) Right click on the Carriers section, left click on Add Carrier.
8) You can name the carrier whatever you wish, though I would recommend using a naming convention that is fairly straightforward (Example: SBCDirect, SprintDirect, etc).
9) Leave the Protocol Set to Tap, the Failover set to None, and the Phone Number blank.
10) Change the Baud Rate, Parity, Stop Bits, and Data Bits to reflect your Tap Terminal's settings. If you're unsure of these settings, please contact your Terminal's manufacturer for further information.
11) In the init string, type the following: direct
12) Change the Max Characters to reflect the Maximum number of characters your Terminal can handle in a single message, specify any password, or message limit that your terminal has, and be sure to put a check mark in Drop non-printable characters.
13) Click on Apply.

5) Close all of that and open the PageGate Admin.

3) Name the Carrier what it needs to be (T-mobile, Cingular, Verizon, etc).
4) Set the Protocol to TAP.
5) In the phone number, you'll need to entire the phone number for one of the TAP Terminals hosted by the carrier. You can find a list of TAP Terminal phone numbers at the following

6) Once the phone number is entered, set the baud rate, parity, data bits, and stop bits to the carrier's specifications. If the carrier doesn't specify what these settings are, the industry standard is as follows:
Baud Rate: 1200
Parity: Even
Data Bits: 7
Stop Bits: 1
7) Set the init string to (auto)
8) Click on Apply to have it add the carrier into the list.

To set up an SMTP carrier in PageGate, you'd want to do the following:
1) In the PageGate Admin, go to the Connectors section.
2) In the Connectors section, go to Global and under Global go to SMTP.
3) In the Local Domain section, you'd want to input the latter part of your email address, the part after the @ sign.
4) Leave PostMaster blank.
5) For the next section, you may need to contact your network administrator if you're not sure what to do here. Basically, you need to know if you have to relay all of your email through a local server of if you can deliver mail through your DNS. If you can deliver your mail through DNS, find out what your primary and secondary DNS entries are and enter those into DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2. If you have to use a relay, make sure to put the check mark next to Relay All Mail, then enter in the relay server you were given into the Relay Server box.
6) Click on Apply.
7) Once you've done that, simply right click on Carriers, left click on Add.
8) Name the Carrier SMTP.
9) Set the protocol to SMTP and click on Apply.

1) Using the Windows explorer, browse to the c:program files
otepager pro directory.
2) In that directory, you should see a NPP.mdb file. If you have system set NOT to show you the extentions to file types, you'll see a file that is named NPP and the icon of the file will be a Microsoft Access File.
2a) If you want to view the extentions to files, which is highly recommended, you'll want to go to Tools -> Folder Options.
2b) In the Folder Options, go under the View Tab.
2c) UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types" and click on OK.
3) Make a copy of this file somewhere on your computer, preferrably to your My Documents folder or the root c:, somwehere easily to remember.
4) After you've made a copy of the database, uninstall NotePager Pro.
5) During the installation, it will prompt you if you want to remove all files, tell it yes.
6) Reboot the computer.
7) Once the computer comes back up, you'll want to visit our website: http://www.notepage.net
8) Click on the Download button under the NotePager Pro section.
9) After the file has been downloaded, run it.
10) This will take you through the installation for the latest version of NotePager Pro, including any patches we've released since you originally installed the program.
11) After you install the latest version of NotePager Pro, run the program once. Skip or cancel all of the wizards it prompt you to, then close the program.
12) After you've closed the program, go back to your Windows Explorer.
13) Find the copy of the NPP.mdb file that you made, whether you put it in your root c: or My Documents folder.
14) Copy this file directly into the c:program files
otepager pro directory. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file, say yes.
15) Once you do that, run NotePager Pro again. Everything should be restored and fully functional.

1) Open the PageGate Admin.
2) Go to the Program section, then go to the Settings section beneath.
3) Once in the Settings, you should see a section that says "Run PageGate As". Click on Windows NT Service.
4) Click on Apply. Now when you click on Apply, it will ask you for credentials in order to make the change. Typically, if you're already logged into Windows with an account that has Administrative rights to the system, you can actually leave the username and password blank and click on ok. If, however, you're not logged into Windows on an account that has admin rights, you'll need to give it a username and password that does have admin rights for this system.

How do I turn on or turn off Dialers and/or Modules in PageGate?
The easiest way to activate dialers and/or modules, once you've entered the registration information, is to do the following:
1) In the PageGate Admin program, go to Program -> Settings.
2) There in the program settings, you should see a series of checkboxes detailing each of the various modules that are enabled. You should see a corresponding checkbox for each module and dialer you want to enable or disable.
3) Put a check mark next to each of the dialers and/or modules you want to use, then click Apply.
3a) To disable a module or dialer, uncheck the appropriate checkboxes and click Apply.
4) If you're running PageGate as a Windows NT Service, it will prompt you for 'credentials' to make the appropriate changes to the System Services. Generally, you can leave the fields blank and click on Apply. If this does not work, please contact Tech Support at support@notepage.com

How do I back up NotePager Pro?
All of your carriers, recipients, and program settings are actually all contained within a single file; the PageGate Database.
The easiest way to back up NotePager Pro is to do this:
1) On the system where the program is installed, browse to the directory you installed NotePager Pro to (typically c:program files
otepager pro).
2) In this directory, locate the file called npp.mdb - This is the program's database and is the only file that needs to be backed up.
3) Copy this file to a CD, make a copy on a network location, make a copy in a different folder on the current system, the methods of backing up can vary widely.
