Being an artist and having been drawing for many years one thing I always use to help me keep organized is pencil cases. I have had many over the years, some have been bad, some great and others fantastic.
So I thought what would be cooler than a list of the coolest Pencil Cases I have ever seen. Not a definitive list but a list of a few that I personally find very interesting, so here it goes, my list of very cool Pencil Cases.
DC Heroes Superman Pen Box - Very basic pen box, nice and compact, but what makes it great, is the Superman logo.
Monokuro Boo Pencil Pouch - Pretty unusual looking case, looks more like a fashionable purse than something that holds pens and pencils, that’s why it makes this list of cool.
Pencil Box, Bluestone, 10 Pack - Classic styling, looks a lot like those old time photo boxes from the fifties, seeing that I have a lot of pencils and pens, these would be a great why to organize my desk.
Stainless Steel Pencil Case - Very cool stainless steel pencil case, small and compact, I’d use it while out and about for carrying my pencils.
Concord Montreal Expos Pen and Pencil Box - Strictly speaking this last case isn’t multipurpose, but it is a beautiful piece of work, in comes with two pens already and well once you finish those off you couls always replace them with more, two more to be exact.
Pencil cases are always useful especially if your at school, an artist or a business person, always handy to have.
The Ferrari School Case Comes jam packed with all kinds of goodies, ready for the school year ahead.
When I was a kid I used to love these zipped cases, they had everything already included with compartments for every single item, everything was securely fastened, made me feel like a professional artist.
It’s a tin case with Buffy graphics inside and out. Seems pretty cool to me and you know a lot of this stuff probably got lost after the popularity of the series died down.
This Faber-Castell Pencil Case is jammed packed with a fine selection of Faber-Castell water colour pencils, water colour brush, regular pencils and sharpener. All these materials are cased in a beautiful cedar wood case.
I’d definitely want one of these as they are pretty much the only way I can use water colours.
Needs to be in pencil form for me to do any good with them.
You probably know that there are many different categories of pencil cases and depending on what you want to use them for, choosing the right kind could be important. So I’d like to talk briefly about a few such uses.
Pencil Cases for School - A pencil case used for school will include, storage of writing utensils, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers and many other things everyone at school will need.
Pencil Cases for the Professional - Such professions could include artists, office related and many others. Examples of what could be stored in such cases, artists equipment including brushes, pens and pencils, paints, craft items etc. You could also be using them to tidy up your office desk.
Cases for Fun - These could include basic storage of pens and pencils around the home to the enthusiastic hobbyist who wants to keep organized for all their craft needs.
There are plenty of uses for pencil cases and medium storage, the limits are endless.
In my last post I let y’all know what I thought were some pretty cool pencil cases, now I’ll show you what kind of cases I use myself. With most things related to writing and drawing keeping instruments organized and clean is something I like to do, especially in my case I use a lot of pencils, charcoal and graphite, the trouble with these kinds of tools is that if you store them along with your pens, brushes etc they’ll get them pretty grubby, thats why I like to use boxes with different compartments.
I usually like to split things up between pencils, pens and brushes, with a big compartment for loose items such as erasers, craft knives, sharpeners, tape etc.
Here’s a few examples of boxes similar to what I use:
I have a few different sizes of pencil cases, a big one for my work station, one for when I’m on a job and a nice pocket sized one for everyday use. The thing I like most about them is that I don’t have to dig though all my gear to get what I want, it’s all separated for easy use.
Done in pen and ink with a pencil outline, all the materials used were nicely stored in my desk top pencil box, which is stationary and holds most of my equipment. Probably took me all up about 3 hours to draw as with most of my drawing, though they are spread out over longer periods of time.
