Are abdominal exercise machines a waste of time?
While there’s no shortage of abs machines, but do they actually work?
There are countless infomercials on the telly where amazingly fit and shapely presenters try to sell you on the fact you can look like that too by just investing in some machine.
Now, in truth, there are more effective investments you can make in your fitness. I’m not sure why people have this pressing need to use them. Fitness machines just seem to be in really high demand. People seem very partial to having something they can physically get on or use.
What is the problem with ab workout equipment?
I am a big fan of ab exercises that you can do without any machines. I don’t have to see another unused ab machine locked in a store room to realize how quickly people just up and quit.
And that’s where the problem lies. Any workout routine requires discipline. You see, in ads you always have some perfect human specimen, promoting yet another abdominal machine. They look fantastic with their permanent smiles, spending their 30 minute slot convincing you that 10 minutes a day to a great body is now reality.
Unfortunately reality hits at about the same time the equipment hits your living room.
Pleased with yourself you start doing the little exercise routine they provide for you, and yes, you’re actually wearing a hint of a smile.
Fast forward about a week…and the picture looks quite different. Boredom has set in, you’re still as flabby as ever (vastly different to the infomercial dudes and babes), and your attic is about to have a little bit less free space available.
Hard work and discipline will get you there…not some machine. Be prepared to be patient and put in the work, and you’ld be well on your way to a lean and fit body.
