When Bob Welch revisited his vast reservoir of classic material - his solo hits as well as selected compositions from his Fleetwood Mac days - for this album, he was determined to take full advantage of the digital age’s myriad technological advances.
“It started out as kind of an experiment to see if I could do it, when I first got my home studio computerized,” he says. “I actually produced kind of a quirky jazz album and took it from start to finish, just to see if I could do it - engineering it, playing all the instruments, taking it all the way through to the mastering and then having it pressed up. So I proved to myself I could do that. So one day I just said, ‘Well, let me try recording “Sentimental Lady,” and let me just see how close I can come with the modern technology, if I can do a copy.’ Not a reinterpretation of it, but copy the exact old song with new digital equipment. And I worked on it just kind of for fun, and it succeeded
