HTML is easy...
It is often easier to buy a web-site template (or series of templates) and learn what the different codes do, by studying each of the templates.
You can use the templates as a base for building a professional website.
Having a professional website is important if you are trying to sell a product.
If your website looks like something a beginner designed, people will think that your product is of lower quality - especially if it is something they are buying online, and will not have a chance to look at the product in a "bricks and mortar" shop.
But... to give you a hand, I have compiled some basic HTML code, and what it means. So you can do simple things like change fonts, sizes, colours and more. You can perform this using style sheets, but we will discuss this in another session.
Fonts
The one thing to remember when changing a font, is that the font may not look the same on someone else's computer. The easiest way to avoid this, is to choose a common font (such as arial, times new roman, courier).
The <font> Code
Using the Font code you can change the size, colour, and font type at once.
Changing the Font Type, you would type:
<font face="font name">
There are many types of fonts you can use, the most commonly used fonts are:
Arial
Courier
Georgia
Lucidia Grande
Times
Trebuchet
Verdana
Changing the font size you would type:
<font size="font size">
Sizes go from 1 to 7. Examples are as follows:
size 1
size 2
size 3 - This is the default size
size 4
size 5
Change colour of the font type:
<font color="#font color">
You use a 6 letter code. To find out the code for the color you would like to use, use the color chart at the bottom of this page. The default colour is blue - which is code 0055ff - so you would type font color = "#0055ff" for the colour blue. To change the colour, just move the cross bar where you want.
putting them all together:
To use the font face, colour and size together you would just merge everything you have learned above, and include an /font> tag at the end. So for example, if you wanted red, arial, size 5 text you would type:
<font size ="5" >TEXT
And that's about it - easy html so you can make changes without searching on the internet every 2 minutes. As discussed, the easiest way to learn html and build a professional website, is to use a ready made template, and change the colors, sizes, and pictures to make the website unique.
