Why should I buy a spot on the feed?

There are three reasons: Traffic, Exposure, and to See What Happens.

RSS is a growing technology, sweeping the Internet. It's available in Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 7.0, and Windows Vista. Users subscribe to RSS feeds to read content without banner ads and spam. By adding your content to the Golden RSS Feed, you'll place your site in the eyes of hundreds, thousands, or millions (depending on our success!) of users who are subscribed to the feed.

Web 2.0 is a big buzz word on the Internet today. RSS technology is a part of it. If you think your content is worthy enough of the user's attention, then try us out.

Not to mention, the Golden RSS Feed is the only project of its kind and it's likely there will be a lot of talk about the concept. At a minimum, you'll get some visitors to your web site. Of course, it could also end up sending hundreds of users your way. We also have plans that could be added to make the site even bigger, including 3rd-party access, searching, an API, and much more.

How do I buy a spot on the feed?

It's easy. Just visit our homepage and find the rank you would like to be listed at. Each rank shown also lists the price paid by the advertiser. Click the "Put Your Site Here" link and fill in information about your URL, Title, and Description. The most important part is entering how much you want to bid for the spot. At a minimum, you only need to pay $1 more than the previous owner. However, bid too low, and someone else will surely take your place.

Can I buy multiple spots?

Yes and no. You can buy additional spots if you use a different site, title, and description. However, you can not buy multiple spots for the same site if that site is already listed and ranked in the Golden RSS Feed. Duplicates would scare off users.

If you have been bumped to the Penny Player's list, you may puchase another spot in the Golden RSS Feed with the same site.

How long will I be listed for?

Permanently. Initially, you will be listed on the front page in the Golden RSS feed. After a while, people may out-bid your placement and you may eventually drop below the bottom rank and off the list. However, you will always have a place on the Penny Player's list and a permanent link.

We reserve the right to reset the bid amounts in the Golden RSS feed if bidding becomes stagnant for a prolonged period of time, due to excessively high bids in all slots. In this case, the top 15 advertisers will be moved to a Hall of Fame feed.

What happens when someone out-bids my rank?

When someone buys your rank by bidding higher, your rank will be bumped down by one place. However, if that place has a higher bid than you, you will be bumped down to the next rank where your bid is the highest.

Some examples:

Example 1 - Standard Bidding:

Rank 5 has a bid of $100.
You bid $101 for rank 5. The old entry for rank 5 is bumped to rank 6. You take the place in rank 5. The old entry for rank 6 is bumped to 7, 7 bumped to 8, etc.

Example 2 - Standard Bidding with Higher Bid on Lower Rank:

Your rank is 5 with a bid of $100.
Rank 6 has a bid of $150.
Rank 7 has a bid of $50.

If someone wants your rank of 5, they bid $101. You will be bumped to rank 7. You will not bump to rank 6 because it has a higher bid than yours.

What happens when my rank drops below 15?

You will be bumped off of the Golden RSS Feed and onto the Penny Player's list. You will always be linked from our site, so you don't have to worry about completely disappearing.

What is the Penny Player's list?

This is the list of advertisers who have been bumped off of the Golden RSS Feed because their bids were too low. Although other advertisers were more intent on taking their place, they will still have a permanent link and exposure.

What about adult links?

Sorry, but adult, obscene, racist, abusive, or illegal content is not allowed.
